We have a different photo theme bimontly and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations around Las Vegas. It's a great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

After group editing session. After each group the instructor runs an optional 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session to help you improve your important post-shoot skills. While much editing can be done on modern cameras, it's best to bring a tablet or laptop with editing software to get the most out of this session. Select this option when booking to attend.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

We also occasionally hold more formal beginners classes which last 3 hours and are limited to 6 people. These classes are perfect for complete beginners who want to start using manual mode and those who want to brush up on the basics. See the dates below.

Join the Las Vegas Photography Facebook Group to share your photos after the session.

Silhouette Photography - Floyd Lamb Park - 6pm - 2 hours
Silhouette photography is a wonderful way to convey drama, mystery, emotion and mood in a picture. A silhouette is defined as a view of an object or a scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. Silhouette photos instantly grab your attention because of the contrast between dark and light. Join the instructor after the group for a 1.5-hour critique, select, and edit session where you can develop your post-shoot skills. Bring your tablet or laptop. Learn how to critique your own photos, select the best image and then edit them to best effect. Your photos will be evaluated along with a lot of encouragement. You will have a better understanding of the larger “picture” improving your skills as a photographer. Our instructor finds a suitable meeting place to go after the regular meetup.

I had a lot of fun meeting new people, trying out new techniques, and exploring new places. I’ve been struggling to go out and shoot more but this really helped me out. Being around photographers inspired me to improve because I was able to see their work. The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. Her challenges opened up my eyes to more than what I was used to do. Would definitely recommend others to take her class!
